Karachi (Pak News) Former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and scholar Syed Munawar Hassan also passed away. He was ill and undergoing treatment in a local hospital. Syed Munawar Hassan was 78 years old. After the formation of Pakistan, Munawar Hassan moved to Karachi with his family. Syed Munawar Hassan was the fourth Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.

In March 2009, Syed Munawar Hassan was elected the fourth Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. Before him, the founders of Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Abul Ala Maududi, Mian Tufail Muhammad and Qazi Hussain Ahmed took charge of the Emirate of Jamaat-e-Islami.
