Contempt of court notice issued to Cynthia Ritchie for violating orders


ISLAMABAD (Pak News) The Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued a contempt of court notice to  Cynthia Ritchie, an American blogger based in Pakistan, for violating the orders. It may be recalled that on June 29, the Sessions Court had issued orders to the American blogger based in Pakistan not to make any statements against the PPP and Senator Rehman Malik.

The Sessions Court had also barred Cynthia Ritchie from publishing any material against Senator Rehman Malik. Later, despite court orders,  Cynthia Ritchie released statements against Senator Rehman Malik on her Twitter account.  Cynthia Ritchie also interviewed a foreign agency despite court orders and spoke to the media after her appearance, alleging that  Cynthia Ritchie had claimed in a live video released on her Facebook page that "in 2011, the former interior minister Rehman Malik raped me, that's right, I will say again that the then Interior Minister Rehman Malik raped me.

Cynthia Ritchie had also accused former Waqf Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of physical harassment and said that Yousuf Raza Gilani was in the Presidency at the time. Numerous threats of rape have been received. She claimed that there was evidence to support what she was saying.

Rehman Malik, Yousuf Raza Gilani, his son and Makhdoom Shahabuddin, on the other hand, vehemently denied the allegations. Later, PPP leader and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced that he would file a defamation suit against American-born Pakistani blogger Cynthia Ritchie in Pakistan and the United States, saying that Cynthia Ritchie had tarnished her image by making baseless allegations.

In addition, Senator Rehman Malik's lawyers had sent a notice of Rs 50 crore damages to TCS American woman Cynthia Ritchie for making allegations. According to a statement issued by former Interior Minister Rehman Malik's spokesman Riaz Ali Turi, Senator Rehman Malik in his legal notice strongly denied the allegations of Cynthia Ritchie as a package of lies.
